Course Units and Study Areas

The Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician covers a wide selection of electrical study areas. AITE lists 29 units within the current course structure. These include workplace safety, electrical drawings, circuit problems, cable termination, AC circuits, transformers, lighting, socket outlets, control circuits, wiring systems and electrical installations. There are also units covering programmable controllers, telecommunications cabling and sustainable energy practices. This broad structure allows students to develop knowledge across different parts of the electrical field rather than concentrating on one narrow skill.
